Poland's Baltic ports are handling more cargo, and the Tricity region, home to Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot, is an important part of this growth.
In the first half of 2026, Polish seaports handled 72.1 million tonnes of cargo, up 5.4% compared with the same period last year. Container traffic also reached a record 2.1 million TEU, an increase of 13.9%.
Gdańsk and Gdynia both reported higher volumes. The Port of Gdańsk handled 41.7 million tonnes of cargo, up 9%, while Gdynia recorded more than 13.5 million tonnes, an increase of 3.5%.
In Gdynia, ferry and Ro-Ro general cargo volumes grew by more than 13%, representing nearly 400,000 additional tonnes.
